How to Adjust the Humidity Settings

The humidity option is dependent upon if your thermostat is configured for dehumidification, humidification, or both.

Important: Heat overrides compressor-based dehumidification (i.e., If heat is active it will not switch over to cooling mode to dehumidify until the heat is satisfied). The compressor short-cycle timer is always active so you will get a four (4) minute delay between heat and dehumidification.

For Dehumidification Only

If the humidity drifts above the thermostat’s humidity setting, the thermostat will energize the Dh terminal to bring on a dehumidifier and keep it on for a minimum of five (5) minutes. However, cycle time may be longer depending how quickly the space demand is satisfied.

  1. In order to make real-time changes to the Humidity Range, select the Climate Control Group where the thermostat is located.
  2. Next, select a specific thermostat with a humidity sensor.
  3. From the thermostat settings, you will see a setting called Max Humidity (%)setting.
  4. Select to adjust at what humidity setting you want the thermostat to enable dehumidification.
  5. Next, using the slider bar, set your Max Humidity (%) setting.
  6. Select Done.
Note: In addition to the dehumidification option, the Cool + Dehumidify option combines the cool-only mode with the Dh output signal. This makes it easy to energize cooling and open a hot-gas bypass valve or other equipment to be used in conjunction with dehumidification. When this mode is active, the cooling is adjusted to allow the space temperature to fall four 4°F below the cool setting or 70°F, whichever is lower.
Note: If using Cool Only for dehumidification, when the humidity level drifts above the thermostat’s humidity setting, the thermostat will energize the cooling cycle to dehumidify the space. When dehumidifying with only the cooling coil, the thermostat will cool the space until the space temperature reaches 70°F or the thermostat’s humidity setting, whichever comes first.

For Humidification Only

If the humidity drops below the thermostat’s humidity setting, the thermostat will energize the Hu terminal to bring on a humidifier.

  1. In order to make real-time changes to the Humidity Range, select the Climate Control Group where the thermostat is located.
  2. Next, select a specific thermostat with a humidity sensor.
  3. From the thermostat settings, you will see a setting called Min Humidity (%)setting.
  4. Select to adjust at what humidity setting you want the thermostat to enable humidification.
  5. Using the slider bar, set your Min Humidity (%) setting.
  6. Select Done.

For Both Dehumidification and Humidification

If the humidity drops below the thermostat’s humidity setting, the thermostat will energize the Hu terminal to bring on a humidifier. If the humidity drifts above the thermostat’s humidity setting, the thermostat will energize the Dh terminal to bring on a dehumidifier.

  1. In order to make real-time changes to the Humidity Range, select the Climate Control Group where the thermostat is located.
  2. Next, select a specific thermostat with a humidity sensor.
  3. From the thermostat settings, you will see a setting called Humidity Range.
  4. Select the humidity range to adjust the minimum humidity reading at which you want the thermostat to be enable humidification and the maximum humidity reading at which you want the thermostat to enable dehumidification.
  5. Using the slider bar, set your Min Humidity (%) setting. To turn off the Min Humidity setpoint, set the slider bar to the far left.
  6. Next, using the slider bar, set your Max Humidity (%) setting. To turn Off the Max Humidity setpoint, set the slider bar to the far left.
  7. Select Done.
Note: A deadband of 5% is automatically enforced between the dehumidification setpoint (Max. Humidity) and humidification setpoint (Min. Humidity) to prevent changeover issues between cycles. For example, if the Min Humidity is set to 35%, the Pelican system will auto-adjust to the five percent deadband and will set the Max Humidity to 40%.
