What are Usage Graphs
Usage Graphs provide historical HVAC usage information. This data can be viewed in HVAC run-time, energy cost, or energy consumption. It can be segmented into groups or viewed as individual thermostat usage. It can also be displayed in month, day, or hourly formats.

How Run-Time is Tracked
When your thermostat request heating or cooling from the HVAC unit, it keeps track of how long this cycle was enabled for. It also keeps track of how long different stages of heating or cooling were enabled for. This information is then displayed on your Usage Graphs.
Why Run-Time Tracking is Important
The Usage Graph is a tool to be used for to track cooling or heating run-times. Energy usage = energy cost for usage reports for after-hours reporting.
For the Usage Graphs you can view cooling run-times, and if cooling is running past occupied hours, this may be an indication that the thermostat schedules are not turned on, need to be adjusted, or created. Select Resolution > Run-Time and select for the day.
How HVAC Energy Consumptions are Calculated
Each of your Pelican thermostats can be configured for how much energy is consumed when they are running heating or cooling, i.e., power consumption information can typically be found on your HVAC units as a tag or label.
If your thermostats have multiple heating or cooling stages, then the thermostat can be configured for the power consumption for each stage.
This consumption configuration is then multiplied by the run-time information being tracked by your Pelican thermostat. Therefore, run-time times consumption equals the energy consumption on your Usage Graphs.
How HVAC Energy Costs are Calculated
Your Pelican Web-App can be configured with a cost per KwH and a cost per Therm. This information is an average cost and is not the same as your utility bill. The purpose of these calculations is to give you a general idea of how much money you are spending on running your HVAC equipment.
Because your Pelican Web-App knows the cost for KwH and Therm, it is able to multiply this cost against the energy consumption calculation in your Usage Graphs. Energy consumption times cost for energy equals the energy costs on your Usage Graphs.
